About Us

Namaste Atithya as a hospitality unit was conceived in 1983 and realised as a by the patron as the first "chai" shop with chai, coffee, dal and rice when no one in the tiny village even had a clue about tourism.

By 1986 he left to Himachal and started another Namaste Food joint in a rented place. After two years of struggle, just as he was breaking even, the owner's daughter passed away. The owner shut down the place for two weeks due to the ceremonies. This had a telling effect on his fledgeling restaurant. He was left with staff that needed paying and feeding. A couple of days was all he could manage and then there was not enough to even feed himself.

Thats when he came back to Gokarna and got his small coffee/chai/dal rice shop going again. This beachside location was then named Namaste café; Christened by a swiss tourist who struck a conversation with Govind.

What slowly developed as a back-packers location with a 5 kilometer trek to get to, has now in addition turned into a space for the urban travellers from different walks of life who wish to get a slice of the disconnected (well not so disconnected with roads leading right upto the beach). And thus Namaste Café today is a hub of activity with backpackers both Indian and international, IT/BT/...XT professionals from all across India and the world, students from across India, day trippers from Goa and many others.

This has now extended to multiple properties comprising Namaste Sanjeevini, Namaste Samudra, the lease & build your own home project all of which are places where one will be lost in the greenery just a couple of minutes from the Beaches of Gokarna. Each of the properties cater to different segments of tourists with varied mindset and expectations.
